Meet local guide for a full day tour where the Afrocolombian culture is depicted. You are immersed into the local culture to learn about music, food, people, customs, and beliefs. Visit the local market to try local food and fruits, learn about natives of Cartagena and the African influence. Visit traditional neighborhoods including Getsemani to understand the city from a geographic, cultural, social, and economic point of view, appreciating its history and culture through murals, graffiti, and its people.

Mud Volcano Bath

Head to the Mud Volcano, take a bath in the natural volcano which is around 40 minutes away from the city. This volcano has medicinal components that work on your body making your skin soft as a baby’s. On the way back, stop at the Afro Colombian village called Tierra Baja to learn about Afro Colombian art and handmade crafts.

On the way to and from the Mud Volcano, visit Afro-Colombian villages including Lomita Arena and Tierra Baja to learn about the people, their way of living, fishing in the small freshwater lake, and how the town survives between the lake and the ocean. At lunch, stop at La Boquilla for delicious fried fish.

Tour of Palenque

Meet local guide for a half day tour of the town of Palenque, the first freed town of the America's. This is a tour to learn about African people who escaped from slavery in the 1600’s and keep a community where they have preserved African culture including a language (Bantú), traditional music and dances, way of living, customs and spiritual beliefs. This settlement as a village was declared by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site in 2005. The tour starts with a walking tour around the community of Palenque, interaction with locals, performance of a traditional musical group and traditional dances, information on history of the town and how the locals were able to escape from their captors being helped by their leader BENKOS BIOHO (male version of Harriet Tubman) and supported by their own women who built maps and roads in their hair braiding to get oriented in the woods and make it to the village where they were/are considered free.

Colombia Entry Requirements

Travelers must complete Migración Colombia’s Online Check-Mig Form within 72 hours of boarding an inbound or outbound flight from Colombia. There is no fee to complete the form.

All U.S. citizens who do not also hold Colombian citizenship must present a valid U.S. passport to enter and leave Colombia. U.S. citizens do not need a Colombian visa for a tourist or business stay of 90 days or less, or for cumulative stays of 180 days or less per calendar year. Before your 90-day stay expires, you may request an extension of up to 90 additional days from the Colombian immigration authority (Migración Colombia). You will face a fine if you remain in Colombia longer than allowed, and you may not be able to leave Colombia until the fine is paid.

Cancellation Policy

Deposit and All Payments are Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable. 

This is necessary as we have non-refundable contracts with our suppliers and vendors to ensure you have an awesome trip! 

THERE IS A STANDARD TWINKONNECTIONS ADMINISTRATIVE FEE OF $100 PER PERSON ADDED ONTO ALL HOTEL FEES AND CANCELLATIONS

Initial deposits are refundable up to 24 hours after time/date of registration, after the 24-hour timeframe your deposit will be NON-REFUNDABLE. Monthly Payments Are Required.  Full payment or Final Payment for this trip will need to be completed on or before June 27, 2026. Your Final Payment is NON-REFUNDABLE upon its due date of June 27, 2026.

By sending this form in, you agree to not hold TWINKONNECTIONS (or any other TWINKONNECTIONS entity), responsible for any errors or omissions relating to this event. We strongly recommend the purchase of Travel Insurance during your travels.
